| About Sra. Scanlan | | Welcome,
My name is Katie Scanlan and I have been working in Saint Paul Public Schools for five years.
I began my career in 1995 in New York State, where I was born and raised. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and my Master's Degree in Special Education from State University of New York at Geneseo. I taught as an elementary classroom teacher (K,1,4 grades) in the Rochester City School District for 5 years before leaving to teach abroad. I first spent two years teaching 6th grade in Guayama, Puerto Rico. Then, I spent one year teaching fourth grade in San Jose, Costa Rica, and one year on the small island of Saint Lucia teaching a K/1 split class.
I began working as a Special Education teacher in 2004 at Harding Senior High School, here in Saint Paul. I spent two years teaching classes to high school students identified as learning disabled, developmentally disabled, and emotionally behaviorally disordered. Three years ago, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to join Adams staff. This allowed for the combination of my two loves, elementary education and becoming a better speaker of Spanish!
