Bienvenidos a la biblioteca!
fantasy

Hola!  I am Senora Kathy Sabota, and I am very pleased to be the new, part-time bibliotecaria at Adams.  I have been in the St. Paul school district for over 20 years, and during much of that time I taught English.  I finally realized that my true passion was to work in the library, so I returned to college (again!) to become a licensed library media specialist.  I hope to pass on my passion for books to every student I meet.  I have a strong background in teaching writing and research, which I plan to utilize at Adams, as well as a

dire interest in communicating the importance of Internet safety to children.

The Adams library has one of the best bilingual collections of books and educational materials in the United States. Parents and staff have worked hard to build up a collection of over 12,000 books and other items, over half of them in Spanish. Studies have consistently shown that a strong library collection with knowledgeable staff is a great predictor of academic success for students. If you are "shopping" for a school program, make sure to visit our library.

Online Learning Resources   This link provides home Internet access for dozens of district-provided databases.
St. Paul Public Library   This link connects you to the public library and all it offers. Click on the Rosetta Stone link to improve your Espanol.

Important Links
Our school district provides many Internet subscription databases which are helpful for students doing research.  These "prescreened" sites eliminate the need to "Google" in many instances.  Click on the link at the top of this section to access the various databases from any place that has Internet access.  Once at the site, click on Online Learning Resources on the right.  All passwords for home access are available in the school newsletter or by contacting me at kathy.sabota@spps.org.

Also remember that you can access the St. Paul Public Library from any place that has Internet access, as well.  Requesting items and having them ready to pick up when you arrive at the library is well worth the "clicks."  Rosetta Stone is available for foreign language learning and is considered an Immersion Program, just like Adams, for those of you who want to brush up on your Spanish.  Click on the second link above and have your library barcode ready.  If you do not have a St. Paul  Public Library card, you need only go to a St. Paul branch library and register your card once in order to use the library in person or from your computer.  Happy Clicking!

Volunteer Opportunities
Adams currently has opportunities for parent volunteers to help keep our library running smoothly.  Reshelving books, helping with circulation, and book repair are priorities right now.  If you are interested in learning more about volunteering in the media center, please email me at kathy.sabota@spps.org or leave a message at 651-293-1595.   Muchas gracias!
