My name is Janet Jacobson RN, LSN. I come to Adams with 15 years of school health experience. My goal is to provide for the health and safety of your children to the best of my ability. I will be at Adams school 5 days a week.. To reach me directly please call 298-1595 x1006 or email me at school- janetdian.jacobson@spps.org.
I am happy to visit with families about your child's health conditions, vision or hearing referrals, immunizations, sports physicals, early childhood screening, etc. I am certainly able to assist families in obtaining low cost or sliding fee medical service, and provide information on other community services as well. Please inform me if your child has medical needs during the school day such as asthma, diabetes, ADD/ADHD, seizures, allergies, etc., so we can work together with your child's teacher and our office staff to be prepared to assist your child as needed.
When should a child stay home from school? Any fever over 100 degrees unaided by tylenol or motrin, vomiting within the past 24 hours, recurrent diarrhea within the past 24 hours, undiagnosed whole body rashes, or with untreated live lice. If you have a question if your child should attend school please call me or the front office staff to consult with us about your child's condition--we are happy to help you.
If your child has been ill with a communicable disease such as strep throat, chicken pox, scabies, ringworm, or unusual rashes please inform the front office staff at 298-1595. Children with strep throat or bacterial pink eye should be taking prescription antibiotics for 24 hours before they return to the classroom.
Does your child have a health condition affecting their learning in the classroom? I collaborate with the special education team and child study team at Adams in assessing and evaluating student needs for services and the 504 team to determine if students need to increase their success in the classroom.
Healthy students are the best learners!!
