| Gifted/Enrichment Services | | Adams has about two hundred fifty students identified as gifted. The focus of gifted/enrichment services at Adams is to engage students in learning and to support teachers in providing instruction for students at an appropriate level of difficulty and challenge. There is a wide range of abilities in each classroom, and the need for support varies from class to class in degree and area. Support is being provided in areas teachers need it most and where I can schedule them. I work with all 24 grade 1-6 classrooms, dividing each semester into two rotations, and working with 12 classes each rotation. I work with students on more challenging lessons, activities and projects in math, reading, writing, social studies, science, or service learning. Students in grades 3-6 also have the opportunity to do in-depth research and to create projects on a topic of interest. By February students are guided in selecting a topic of interest, forming questions for their research, researching and finding answers, and presenting their research in an interesting and enjoyable way. Projects are displayed at a Project Showcase in May. Shown are pictures from a previous Project Showcase.
