At the end of second grade, your child should be able to:
  • Tell time, read a calendar and thermometer, measure things.
  • Identify basic shapes and patterns.
  • Make and read graphs.
  • Read and write numbers to 1000.
  • Use more than one way to solve a problem; explain the reasoning for how he or she solved a problem.
  • Count and write money amounts using coins and dollars.
  • Complete and describe number patterns, such as when counting by threes, fives, or tens.
  • Correctly add and subtract two and three digit numbers (no regrouping).
  • Know addition and subtraction facts up to 18.
  • Identify simple fractions such as halves and fourths.
